Beavers flourish in tidal habitats in the Pacific Northwest, study finds
Reported byMongabay ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Research by estuarine ecologist Greg Hood found beavers far more common in tidal wetlands than previously understood, with some tidal channels in the Snohomish and Skagit rivers showing beaver dams at twice the density of non-tidal rivers.
Research is ongoing; the full extent of salmon benefits from tidal beaver dams remains to be determined through continued tagging studies.
