A third driver of high blood pressure discovered, with a potential drug fix
Reported byScienceAlert ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Researchers from Australia and Singapore identified inflammation-resolution pathways as a previously underappreciated mechanism in hypertension. An experimental compound called 17b reduced blood pressure in mouse models and repaired vessel and organ damage caused by chronic inflammation.
The findings are from mouse models; clinical translation in humans will require further research and testing.
