A machine learning-powered chatbot to guide tree plantation in the Himalayas
Reported byMongabay India ↗·Sourced by Goodlede
Forest officer Pushpendra Rana and RootIQ Labs developed WhereToPlant Bot, a machine-learning chatbot that predicted tree survival probability and guided plantation across over 500 hectares in Himachal Pradesh during the 2025 monsoon season, with more than 200 women's groups and 50 youth clubs using the tool.
The tool is currently exclusive to Himachal Pradesh and remains in early deployment; long-term survival rates of planted saplings will take years to confirm.
