About 40M squirrels are killed by drivers each year. So this city created the world's first-ever 'squirrel bridge'

Longview, Washington's 1963 'Nutty Narrows' squirrel pedestrian bridge—a 60-foot aluminium and fire-hose structure costing $1,000—inspired nine total bridges in Longview and has now expanded to neighboring Duvall, Washington, where a rope bridge was recently installed to prevent road deaths of endangered Douglas squirrels.
